Difficult
is going to be to tell you my impressions of this new film delivery mutant and
super heroic without explaining too
much, but we will achieve. Suffice to say two things: it is a very good movie and
it is not for all audiences. Now, let's see why I say this so bluntly.
'Logan'
is situated in the year 2029. The mutants have disappeared - A withdrawn and
dejected Logan spends his days drinking endless, hiding on a remote part of the
Mexican border, earning himself some change as a rental driver. But Logan's
attempts to hide from the world and his legacy come to an abrupt end when a mysterious woman appears with an
urgent request: that Logan guides an extremely young and very extraordinary
girl to a safe place. As we can see from the synopsis and the trailer, we are
faced with a history of losers and, therefore, of redemption and sacrifice, in
which we will see our hero in the latter, without strength and, more
importantly, without hope, Fleeing again from a painful and bloody past.
Precisely
this last one, afdah presents film of the bigmouth mercenary, which has opened the eyes of
the Fox executives, making them see that there is an avid audience of superheroic adult cinema, prepared for a
hard, dramatic story, where humor is So minimal that it is limited to three
small winks almost in the background: comic book appearances and Wolverine
dolls.
Of
course, 'Logan' also drinks from the aforementioned first X-Men movie,
especially where Bryan Singer offered us superheroes recognizable by all comic
book fans and, more importantly, with a more adult view of The one that habituated us the previous
adaptations "comiqueras".
Obviously,
if Fox focuses exclusively on this type of cinema, he is also making a mistake,
but for now let's enjoy this more serious cinema. If we remove the claws and
the few powers (splendidly recreated, by the way), we have a magnificent story
where some old friends, with a great load behind them, receive a point of hope
in the form of a girl at the That they
have to protect and take to a safe place, mission that will remind them who
they were and why they fought in better times.
The
story is also swritten by director James Mangold, director of works as
disparate as the dignified 'Kate & Leopold' (2001), the hard 'Inocencia
interrupted' (1999), the magnificent western 'The train of 3:10' (2007) or the
failed, but interesting, earlier rendition of our Logan, 'Immortal Wolverine'
(2013). It is a solid script, without fail and without traps, that begins
"in media res" and that almost does not resort to the flashback,
leaving that the spectator is discovering, little by little, the tragedy
happened a year before and for which both Logan and Xavier live hidden. Mangold
does a good job of directing this story, proving that the little flashes of
good work we saw in 'Lobezno: immortal' had nothing to do with the lousy script
that made him swallow, and that we could enjoy in the excellent sequence of the
train.
James,
Logan, has long since ceased to be Wolverine, partly because of his own choice
(for all the deaths of his past), but also because physically he is not who he
was, much less. He is a strong person, but not the insurmountable "tough
guy" we know. Now he can be hurt, not just outside. His body is being
poisoned by something inside him and Mangold uses this as a simile of what happens to his spirit: the real
damage comes from himself.
And
finally, Hugh Jackman does not surprise us with his good performance; Has
already given many examples of the good actor that is and, what concerns us,
the respect he has learned to take this character to whom he owes so much. It is the old Logan
that we hope to see (although the story
has almost nothing to do with the comic of the same title tired, distressed, with the weight of a
whole world behind and, when necessary, taking the beast out of its interior.
Finally,
the music of Marco Beltrami is simply
circumstantial: it supports the scene in a correct way, emphasizing the
hardness of the story but without memorable or outstanding themes, accompanying
the images that, instead, enjoy a magnificent photograph of John Mathieson , As it deserves this twilight western. afdah movies shows story in brief, a very good work that will enjoy
all those who go with an open mind but that will disappoint all those who are not informed that they
expect a movie "pajamas" simply action.
Thank you on the post. I have the following rating from the video.
ReplyDeleteFolks should learn to totally ignore the critics these days. Too much political correctness has made them completely misleading and just plain wrong a lot.
I haven't laughed in tears for much of a movie in a long time. Based on a true story this was outrageous and funny. It is not for kids and is pretty dirty language but so well done. Enjoy!
